It has been months since I’ve made a new portrait to go with one of my Sage lines, so there was a particular delight in receiving the Sage word, from Richard Rudd, for my Attraction Sphere yesterday and feeling an image begin to gather almost immediately.

I didn’t have to think very hard about her. The image came quickly: green, rain, flowers, a small crown, and a queen who did not need to make herself large.

A few months ago I wrote about my first set of portraits in Portraits as Portals, Playing Visually with my GK Sage Lines. Those first four images have been living with me ever since, printed out and pinned to the bulletin board I face for hours every day. They have become a kind of visual council, not formal or fancy, but quietly present while I write, contemplate, make art, and live my ordinary life.

Now I am in the Venus Sequence, and the Attraction Sphere has brought me my first new, non-repeat Sage line portrait. The word is Regency. I knew right away that this portrait could not be about royal authority in the usual sense. She could not be a queen who rules over. She had to be a figure of remembered inner power, dignity, and belonging to the living world around her.

The portrait that emerged is a mature queen with red, wavy hair, flowers woven through it, and a delicate fairy crown rather than a heavy one. She stands in a bower of honeysuckle and wild roses while gentle rain falls around her. She wears green and holds a small, delicate scepter. Her blue eyes are clear and direct, but the feeling is not judgment. It is recognition, the gaze of someone who can see clearly without needing to overpower what she sees.

That felt important to me. Regency, as it is arriving in this sphere, is not domination dressed in prettier clothes. It is not hierarchy with better manners. It is presence that can hold power without turning power into control. It has something to do with standing in my own inner authority while leaving room for every other being to stand in theirs.

That is why nature had to be part of her. Honeysuckle, roses, rain, green fabric, and the lightness of the crown all soften the image away from a throne room and toward a living bower. She does not appear separate from the world she serves. She appears held within it. Her authority is not imposed from above; it seems to rise from relationship, season, weather, beauty, and restraint.

This feels like a necessary counterweight inside the Attraction Sphere. Attraction can be such a charged place to contemplate. It brings up chemistry, longing, projection, desire, insecurity, fear, and all the ways we reach toward one another or pull away. It can wake up the parts of us that want to perform, grasp, hide, please, impress, or manage how we are seen.

Regency offers a different posture. It asks what attraction might feel like if it were rooted in respect instead of control. It asks what becomes possible when I stop trying to rule the field and begin tending my own place within it. It reminds me that my inner authority matters, and so does the inner authority of the people, creatures, and relationships that come close.

I think this is why I love her face so much. There is strength there, but not hardness. Beauty, but not performance. Seeing, but not possession. She feels like the part of me that is learning to meet what arrives without giving my power away or trying to take power from something else.

She also feels like a bridge from the work of Purpose into the work of Attraction. Purpose helped me root more deeply into myself. Attraction now asks what happens when life brings others, situations, reactions, and desires close enough to stir that rooted place. Regency gives me an image for staying seated within myself while still belonging to the whole.

So this newest portrait will join the others on my bulletin board. I imagine she will have a steadying effect there, especially as I move further into the more complicated terrain of the Attraction Sphere and the rest of the Venus Sequence. She will remind me that true power does not need to dominate, beauty does not need to persuade, and the living world is always offering a quieter lesson in balance than the mind’s anxious little hierarchies.

For now, I am simply glad she arrived. A red-haired queen in summer rain. A small crown. A green gown. A delicate scepter. Wild roses and honeysuckle. A compassionate gaze. A reminder that inner regency may be less about commanding the world and more about meeting it with dignity, awareness, and grace.

*My Attraction Sphere is 45.5: Dominance-Synergy-Communion. The words on the card holding the image are by Richard Rudd.

If you read the other article you will notice in the header image a few of my portraits have changed over the past few months as I deepened in my understanding of the Sage Lines and my relationship to them.

I generated the image, as I did the other images, using the AI generator: Designer.
