Entering the Attraction Sphere with Drama or Dharma

Here we are at the Attraction Sphere again. I say “again” tenderly because this is my fourth time through the Venus Sequence. I keep thinking I should be less surprised by this work by now. But I’m not. I’m arriving more like someone who has hiked this mountain pass before and still gets startled by the weather, the loose stones, and the hidden bend in the river.

That’s one of the reasons I trust this work. The Gene Keys don’t become less alive because I’ve been here before. They become more alive. I know the language. I know the map. And still, life brings something close and my body has opinions.

Dharma is such a beautiful word, and also a word I can easily float away with if I’m not careful. So I’m keeping it plain. Can I receive what happens in my life as part of my growth?

Not because everything is easy. Not because everything is automatically good. Not because I’m supposed to abandon discernment or boundaries. But because life keeps offering me material, whether I’ve cleared the table for it or not.

I keep coming back to Richard Rudd’s image of dharma as a great underground river. I need that image. It helps me remember that whatever just happened is only one layer. My reaction is another. Somewhere underneath both, something else is moving.

For anyone newer to the Gene Keys, the Attraction Sphere can sound at first like it’s about becoming more attractive or magnetizing better circumstances. That’s not how I experience it. Attraction isn’t performance. It’s what life brings close and what wakes up in me when it does.

This time through, I’m noticing how fast my mind wants to label what arrives. Something happens, and before I’ve even taken a full breath, the inner sorting machine comes online. GoodBad. Wanted. Absolutely not today. My body may have noticed something true, but then my mind comes barreling in with a clipboard, a filing system, and very little humility.

That distinction matters to me. The body’s first signal may be information, but the label is interpretation. Drama begins when I mistake the first sensation for the whole truth. Dharma begins when I pause long enough to listen for the river underneath.

Maybe that’s why this week’s contemplation didn’t stay on my daily walks. It ended up on the art table, in scraps of yellow paper and bits of gold, because apparently my hands needed to understand it too.

That’s where the title of this video comes from. Drama or Dharma? Am I reacting to what’s arrived, or am I listening for what it may be showing me? I wanted to take that question out of concept and into my hands, using sorting cards, torn paper, and gold-and-yellow collage to see the difference on the page.

This is why the Venus Sequence still feels alive to me after multiple journeys through it. We’re not leaving relationship to do our spiritual work somewhere cleaner and more controlled. We’re entering relationship as the path. Which is beautiful, yes. And also often terrifying.

Because I’ve been around this spiral a few times now, I also want to say this clearly. Dharma doesn’t mean saying yes to everything. It doesn’t mean abandoning boundaries. It doesn’t mean pretending that difficult things are secretly wonderful while my body is over in the corner asking if we could please call a truce. Sometimes the dharma is the boundary. Sometimes the hidden gift is the pause.

This feels especially alive with my Attraction Sphere: Gene Key 45, moving from Dominance to Synergy to Communion, through the 5th Line theme of Entrapment and Sensuality. These are the kind of words that make me sigh, put down the book, and realize we are not staying theoretical. Apparently we are talking about power, projection, vulnerability, boundaries, and all the places fear makes me reach for control or hand myself over.

So what I’m practicing this week is not instant understanding, although naturally I’d enjoy a tidy little spiritual memo from the universe with bullet points and a reasonable delivery time. What I’m practicing is one breath before the sorting machine takes over.

One breath to wonder whether what life has brought close might be part of how life is trying to grow me.

If you’ve been following my process, you already know Bright Wing has flown in as my Dream Arc Parrot companion for this Venus journey. So of course Bright Wing is on the branch asking the less elaborate version. Are we reacting to this, or listening to it?
