Setting the Intention and Energy for 2026
We are offering you a question today to set you up for the month to come with Bite-Sized invitations towards transformation. The subject for January is The Power of Words.

At this time of year, it is good to cast our minds forward to the year ahead, and to ask ourselves what energy we want to bring into our lives.
This is not about acquiring stuff, or getting a promotion, or going on holiday (although it’s fine to be thinking about those things too!). No, this is more about what intentions you want to hold in your heart.
Lizzie does this in the pages of her journal, but there are so many different ways to do this. You might want to make some art, you might want to talk to a trusted friend. You might want to simply sit quietly with the question in your heart. Many people choose a word or words for the year for this purpose.
If you are overwhelmed and can’t even imagine at this time finding an intention to bring to this next year, I’m sure you are not alone! You can skip all this article if you want and maybe watch this short video with Richard Rudd where he talks about Transforming Overwhelm.
As with all our inner work, remember to be gentle and patient with yourself as you ponder these thoughts. If you want to print out the image, get a screenshot if you are on a device, or right click and copy then paste into a word document.
Or you could write it in your journal and free-write on what comes up for you when you ask yourself, “What energy do I want to bring into my life in the coming year?“. And don’t worry if your answers are different each time you ask … I ask myself the same questions over and over, and each time, something different falls onto the page!

Some journaling or contemplation prompts to ponder this month:
Choose a word or two words ... or three words or however many words you feel called to ... in order to capture the energy you want to bring into 2026.
Journal about each of these words and write about why you want to bring that energy in.
Look at your Gene Keys profile and see which one of the Gift words speak to you.
Could you lean into these words in order to bring this energy that you want into your life?
(You can get your free Gene Keys Profile here!)
Write a letter to your future self ... Ask yourself, "How do I want to feel on the 31st of December 2026?" ... Put the letter somewhere safe, to be opened at the end of the year.
If you would like some inspiration for picking a word that works with your own Gene Keys chart you can look in the free Living Library. The image here shows only some of the information available to you. It also has Human Design elements etc. So get your chart and then go have fun looking up your Gene Keys in the Living Library.
Isn’t it a giggle that Gene Key 50 is the “Life’s Work” Gene Key for our website and the Hexagram for it is called The Cauldron?

Take time each day to pause … it is in the pauses that you will find the magic in your life.
Could you create a daily ritual to remind you of the energy and intentions you want to bring into this year? Meghan has prayers she uses each day:
“Every morning before I get out of bed, I go through my whole Gene Keys chart briefly touching in on each of my spheres and bringing forth the loving gifts that live inside of me from each key. It’s a way of orienting me in my own magic before the day begins. For instance my Activation Sequence might sound like: May I live this day in easy strength and divine relaxation bringing forward my devoted resolve and letting it be fueled by the equality that lives in the heart home of my purpose, and may I add a sprinkle of effortless patience wherever possible. (GK’s 34/20 & 40/37 and lines 6/2).”
You might want to create a piece of art to represent your Words for the Year. Here is the visual that Lizzie has created for her words. This is not only on her vision board, but it’s the background for her laptop screen! Meghan Does a similar thing.

You might want to buy a talisman that you can wear each day to remind you of the energy you want to bring in. Lizzie has had a salmon pendant made for the stillness she wants to bring in. Meghan has a phoenix pendant to represent her overarching prayer for the year: May I graciously hold the ideal of Heaven on Earth.

Some Quotes to Inspire You
Before you tell your life what you intend to do with it, listen for what it intends to do with you. Before you tell your life what truths and values you have decided to live up to, let your life tell you what truths you embody, what values you represent.
Parker J Palmer
I could go back in the direction I had come from, or I could go forward in the direction I intended to go.
Cheryl Strayed
Love is the will to extend one's self for the purpose of nurturing one's own or another's spiritual growth... Love is as love does. Love is an act of will -- namely, both an intention and an action. Will also implies choice. We do not have to love. We choose to love.
M Scott Peck
Do not be dismayed by the brokenness of the world. All things break. And all things can be mended. Not with time, as they say, but with intention. So go. Love intentionally, extravagantly, unconditionally. The broken world waits in darkness for the light that is you.
L R Knost
You might want to listen to this beautiful song by the Wailin’ Jennys …
‘Cause I can see the light of a clear blue morning
I can see the light of a brand new day
I can see the light of a clear blue morning
Everything’s gonna be all right
It’s gonna be okay
