Welcome to our 6th, very playful, episode of Conversations With a Couple of Crones.
As always, you may listen to this as a podcast above or watch the video (by clicking the film icon on the player) where you might find some illustrations of what we are talking about.
Meghan and I are currently travelling with our EQ spheres as we record this instalment of CWACOC, and we were in the mood for high play, so our questions this week were all about bringing in our childlike spirits.
Where Am I Now?
We started off with our usual “Where am I now?” question …
Meghan talked about how she is feeling a little lost in this part of the process, and how she is trusting that it is okay to feel lost sometimes.
Meghan spoke about how visual creativity is helping her to find some stability in her lostness, and how she is “visual spellcasting” as she embarks on this EQ chapter of our journey.
You can read more about this in Meghan’s article, “Visual Spell Casting” in the Articles Section; it’s a delicious exploration of how she is using creativity, the Dream Arc animals, inspirational words, and visual imagery to literally cast spells to aid her transformation.
I spoke about the huge breakthroughs I’d had in my IQ Sphere around my mum – realising she was ungraduated teenager ill-equipped to parent me – which lead to such a wash of compassion and forgiveness for her; but more than that, the FORGIVENESS FOR MYSELF that came with it!
Realising that teenage me is still inside and I get to love her and celebrate her brilliance, that she never saw in herself, has been revelatory for me. And now, in my EQ, I get to celebrate the brilliance of my younger self too.
The Question from Our Glorious Community
For this episode’s Community question, we decided to take another one of Debbie’s glorious questions that seemed to be absolutely perfect for this EQ sphere that we are in. Now, Debbie’s actual question was this …
Which Gene Key would you turn into a children’s story or myth—
and how would it end?
I’ve just got to tell you though that both Meghan and I completely missed the “how would it end” part, and we both wrote whole stories!! 😂✍🏻
For her story, Meghan used her EQ Gene Key … 36.4 The Siddhi of Compassion, the Gift of Humanity, and the Shadow of Turbulence … and crafted a story of a little girl, Ella, who didn’t want to feel her BIG feelings any more.
I used my Purpose Gene Key … 48.3 The Siddhi of Wisdom, the Gift of Resourcefulness, and the Shadow of Inadequacy … and I told a tale of a little girl, Evangaline, who felt unloved and unwanted.
Meghan’s story brought tears to my eyes as she read it out, because the similarities between our stories were so apparent to me. We had not talked about our stories before we recorded this episode; neither of us knew what the other was going to write about; yet we both explored the theme of a young girl, misunderstood by her milieu, who wanders into the forest to escape her pain, and who meets a wise old soul who helps her.
If you’d like to read our stories you can find them HERE …

Our Question to Ourselves
Staying with our theme of childlike play, our question to ourselves was this …
How do we bring play into the inner work?
We had the most delicious conversation about this.
Richard Rudd says that “The upside of our EQ is that we rekindle a lost part of our childhood – our love of play.”
And in our EQ work, Hayley has been reminding us that so much playfulness can be unlocked here. As Richard says, “We no longer need to look outside ourselves to have our emotional needs met, because our joyousness keeps welling up from within.”
We both agreed that bringing play into the work in the form of creativity is absolutely key to getting the most out of our journey. We talked about writing, about art journaling, about colouring, oh, and laughing!
Oh, it was such fun for me to talk about playing with Meghan, who is my best friend in the whole wide world, and who I so wish I had known when I was a little girl! But hey! Lucky me! I get to play with her now! Meghan once described these CWACOC videos as just a couple of girls making a play in the barn! And that’s just what this conversation was … play, fun, laughter and happy tears!!
I do hope that you’ll enjoy it as much as we did!
And then, of course, we finished with our usual Whimsical Question, which led to more “play” and more laughter!
