Hello friends and welcome to Episode 10 of Conversations With A Couple Of Crones, where we talk about finding our Core Gene Key inside our other keys. (You can choose to listen to this episode as a Podcast while you go about your day, or you can grab a cuppa and join us in our video as we chat! – just click the film icon on the player)

We started with our usual question to ourselves … “Where am I now?

We both talked about the same thing! We are both in a state of high excitement at the moment, because we are working to create a website where we can share our love of the inner work, the power of the Gene Keys, as well as our creativity, our art and our deep sense of fun and play!

Meghan first suggested that we “do a blog together” when we were both working in our SQ sphere as part of Hayley’s Devoted container. I said a resounding “yes!” to that idea, and within two days we’d come up with the name … A Cauldron of Crones … Meghan had bought the domain name, and she had started setting it up!

In a very short period of time, our “blog” had grown into a website, with Meghan, the WordPress Wizard, creating glorious imagery and colours for our “brand”. We have lots of juicy pages and areas for women to explore. (Don’t be misled by the name … you can be a “crone” at any age!! You are all going to be welcome there, and we are sure that you will find juicy content to help you with your own inner work.)

We also talked about how we have both been feeling out of sorts and a little off-kilter for the past few days. We both recognised that the work we are doing in our Core Wound right now has a lot to do with this feeling of unease (that, coupled with the fact that we have just been in the Pulse of GK6 – Conflict!).

Finding Our Core Wound Gene Key in ALL of Our Other Keys

During our last Devoted Integration Calls, Hayley brought to us the concept that our Core Wound Gene Key is actually also the CORE of every other Gene Key in our charts! She spoke about how you could look into the heart of each Gift and see the Gift of your Core Wound beating in time with it.

She also spoke about how the Shadow of our Core Wound is like the root tendrils underneath all of our other Shadows.

Meghan and I both took this idea and applied to our charts. In two mammoth journaling sessions, I first went through all of my Shadows from Life’s Work to SQ and asked myself “Where is the root of Arrogance in this Shadow?”, and then I went through each of the Gifts asking “How does Leadership make this Gift bloom?” (I have Gene Key 31 here – Arrogance -> Leadership -> Humility; Meghan has 22 here – Dishonour –> Graciousness –> Grace).

Finding The Flavour Of The Shadow Of Our Core Wound Gene Key

For me this GK31, the Shadow of Arrogance, tells me … “I’m not only feeling I’m not good enough, but I’m petrified of being seen as not good enough to lead.”

If Leadership truly is the Core Gift inside every other Gift, then this Shadow of Arrogance really is going to be terrified of being found out to be a fraud … not a true leader, because it doesn’t know enough. It’s terrified of the unknown because it has a corrupted opinion that “good” leaders should know everything.

It’s the fucking Emperor’s new clothes … I’m terrified I’ll be laughed at, that if I put my head above the parapet and attempt to lead, people will see my inadequacy, my lack of knowledge and they will say, who is she to lead?

At the root of all my Shadows is this fear to get it wrong.

I actually read out my entire journal entry for this, because it felt like the right thing to do! You get to hear exactly how vitriolic my Shadow of Arrogance can be when it comes through all those other Shadows.

Meghan spoke about how profound it was to bring the light to this Core Wound shadow into each of the other keys. She spoke about how that Core Wound is so deep within us, and that by connecting it to all of these other GKs, which she thought were “solved” for her, jostled everything. It literally shook everything up for her. And that’s a good thing! Because it DOES bring more light into all of our spheres.

Meghan also spoke about how, even though she and I are deep in our Gene Keys work, so we are very familiar with our Shadows, you don’t have to have made it all the way to your Core Wound to do this exercise. In fact, you don’t have to have done any work on your Gene Keys at all … you could simply take the words and ask yourself the question, Where is the root of this Shadow showing up in this other Shadow? For example, I have Arrogance in my Core Wound and Provocation in my Life’s Work, so the question is … Where is the root of Arrogance in the Shadow of Provocation?

Meghan’s advice … just play!! But remember to be kind and gentle and patient with yourself!!! And remember that you are safe.

Seeing Our Core Wound Gift as the Missing Piece to Every One of Our Keys

We then went on to discuss the Gifts. For the Gift of the Core Wound, Hayley said that the unlocking of the deep essence of our Core Gift comes through all the other Gifts, and adds the core missing piece to every single one of the Spheres. Your Core Gift comes to fill each sphere’s core, and then it can properly bloom. So, we went through each of the Gene Keys in our charts, and asked … “How does Leadership make each of our Gifts bloom?

We spoke about the difference in energy, when we look at all of our Gifts through this lens. We spoke about how our Core Gift is all about the creative impulse coming through us.

Meghan spoke about how she could see how much emotion, which is so central to her entire chart, comes through in each of the spheres, when she looks at them through this lens of her Core Wound Gift. Meghan’s Gift here is part of the Ring of Divinity and she spoke so beautifully about bringing that feminine energy into all of her Gifts. Which triggered a whole conversation about the feminine!

(By the way, we talked about the Pulse moving into GK48, which it hadn’t! It was actually GK46 that it moved into on the day we recorded this episode – Seriousness –> Delight –> Ecstasy. But of course, Richard says this about Ecstasy … “We might think that Ecstasy takes place in some far-off spiritual dimension. It takes place right here among human beings. We’re natural-born ecstatics. To allow that level of beauty into our inner being, we have to unlearn many of our masculine traits.” So that was actually kind of perfect!!!)

And of course, we ended with our Whimsical Questions!!

We would love to know in the comments if you try the exercise of looking at each of your Gene Keys through the lens of your Core Wound, and how it was for you!
